About us
Hermann Hartje KG is a manufacturer, brand dealer and wholesaler in the bicycle sector, as well as a competent service partner for automotive and motorbike parts. Mobility is our passion. Hermann Hartje, grandson of the company’s founder, leads our family business in the third generation. Over the course of more than 125 years, a regional bicycle retailer grew into one of the country’s leading bicycle wholesalers in Germany and beyond.
We supply our more than twenty subsidiaries from our company headquarters in Hoya, Lower Saxony, who in turn supply local retailers across the country. Even overnight, because we do everything: from personalised support to our sales representatives and telephone service to delivery with our own "blue fleet".

Milestones of our company history
1895
Company foundation: Hermann Hartje Senior starts buying and selling bicycles in Hoya, Lower Saxony. First own brands follow in 1904.
1910
1930
1948
1950
Post-war economic miracle: Hermann Hartje Senior dies, leaving the company to his son Friedrich. He successfully leads HARTJE through the 1950s and 60s, which are marked by an economic upturn.
1968
HARTJE now employs 50 permanent staff. The wholesaler enjoys a good reputation in the region based on consistent reliability and fast deliveries. Today's head office is constructed on the site of a former weaving mill acquired on Deichstrasse in Hoya.
1973
Leadership change: Hermann Hartje Junior takes over the management of Hermann Hartje KG from his father Friedrich Hartje.
1987
Opening of the first sales office: Hartje now operates 21 sales outlets in Germany, Austria, the Netherlands and Denmark.
1995
HARTJE celebrates its 100th anniversary – and enters a new era with close to 300 employees.
1997
On the road to success: The traditional VICTORIA brand is successfully relaunched with city and trekking bikes. Later, e-bikes and SUV bikes provide additional tailwind.
2006
Expansion of logistics and production: Construction of the bike warehouse for up to 75,000 bicycles and expansion of the production capacities of the HARTJE MANUFAKTUR.
2010
The “e” concept: Hundreds of specialist retailers recognise the opportunities of the e-bike segment and take off with HARTJE as a partner.
2016
Colour at will! From now on, all bicycles manufactured at the HARTJE MANUFAKTUR will receive their high-quality paint finish in the in-house powder coating plant – handmade in Hoya
2017
Pioneering work: The Dutch HARTJE team in Zutphen opens the very first HARTJE Bike Experience Centre. Potsdam and Augsburg follow suit with their own innovative showrooms.
2020
125th company anniversary: The founding of the Danish company HARTJE EBSEN A/S and the HARTJE subsidiaries HARTJE Experience Centre Benelux, HARTJE ASIA (2018) and HARTJE E-Factory in the Czech Republic (2018), change the face of the company, transforming HARTJE into a group.
2025
Innovative platform: Following a comprehensive relaunch, the hartje.de retailer portal has a brand new look. On offer are numerous online services, an integrated B2B shop and much more.
