The new E-Cargo Pro expands CHIKE’s range of modular cargo builds with a secure, lockable box
Köln/Hoya, 23.Juni 2025 - At Eurobike 2025, CHIKE presented the E-Cargo Pro with a lockable box mounted on this proven, compact chassis with its tilting mechanism. The box offers a volume of 320 litres and holds six Euroboxes in the standard 30 × 40 cm format. This format also fits crates or tool systainer boxes – which already sums up the main use cases: the E-Cargo Pro is aimed at delivery services and commercial businesses.
The idea of offering a lockable box as an option has been around at CHIKE for a long time. Customer requests from tradespeople, companies with delivery services – from pharmacies to kiosks to service providers – and even from private users, kept reinforcing the idea. The challenge lay in the high demands for the box.
It had to be lockable and make the best use of space on the chassis. It needed to be stable yet as light as possible. It had to provide ample room for Euroformat boxes but remain as narrow as other CHIKE models – 73 cm – so the Cargo Pro could still fit through any doorway.
Storage space optimised
On the rear, slightly lower level, four boxes with a height of 25 cm fit perfectly. In the front section, two boxes up to 35 cm tall can be placed. Alternatively, items in the front can be secured with straps and airline rails – similar to the E-Cargo’s platform version. The lid is designed to provide a wide opening and is assisted by a gas strut for smooth opening and closing. The box is secured with a high-quality cylinder lock. Just like on the E-Cargo, the loading height is ergonomically convenient, with the low load edge adding an extra advantage.
Box production in northern Germany for assembly at the HARTJE manufactory The box is made in a rotational moulding process from polyethylene, a recyclable plastic. This manufacturing method ensures even wall thickness and allows for the box’s custom shape. Custom colours are also possible in small series. With the sealing lid in place, the box is rain- and splash-proof and also offers sound-dampening properties. Its side surfaces are ideal as advertising space. Directly below the handlebar, it features two practical storage trays. For final assembly, the E-Cargo Pro box doesn’t have to travel far – the new model is already being built at the HARTJE manufactory in Hoya – and is available to order now. Like all other CHIKE models, it comes in two variants:
- With Shimano EP6 Cargo motor, belt drive, 630 Wh battery, and electronically shifting Shimano Nexus 5E Di2
- SE version with Shimano E6100 Cargo motor, 418 Wh battery, chain, and Shimano Nexus 5-speed hub gear
