Tern, the specialist in urban mobility, today introduces the Quick Haul Long: a compact, electric-powered cargo bike designed to help active families get to their destinations faster and with more fun. The Quick Haul Long is built for heavy-duty transport tasks, whether it’s the morning school run, weekly grocery shopping, or a Friday night date.
“We launched the GSD in 2018 because we believed that a compact cargo bike made sense in the city,” says Josh Hon, Tern Team Captain. “Back then, we didn’t know how successful the compact cargo bike category would become. Today, we are amazed to see how many of them are on the streets of San Francisco, Brussels, or Paris. Since our first GSD, we’ve learned a lot about how to make cargo bikes even better and more efficient. The new Quick Haul Long brings the best features of the GSD – but at a significantly more affordable price, without compromising on safety or reliability.”
With its compact 20-inch wheels, the Quick Haul Long is about the same length as a standard city bike – but it can do so much more: with a maximum total weight capacity of 190 kg, it can carry two small children or even an adult on the rear rack. The Quick Haul Long is powered by a Bosch motor, the world’s leading provider of premium e-bike systems.
Premium riding experience at an affordable price
The Quick Haul Long is one of the most affordable premium cargo bikes on the market – an attractive option for those who might otherwise choose a cheaper model, even though they appreciate the benefits of high-quality products. The significant added value in performance, reliability, service, and safety provided by Bosch’s e-bike systems makes the Quick Haul Long a worthwhile investment and a smart long-term choice.
Made for the city
Riding in the city poses unique challenges for cargo bike owners: limited storage space, the need to accomplish various daily tasks with a single vehicle, and adverse weather conditions that can shorten the bike’s lifespan. The Quick Haul Long is equipped with many practical features tailored to these urban challenges:
- Easy to park: The Quick Haul Long can stand upright, allowing it to fit into elevators and small apartments, instead of being left outside.
- Easy to share: The Quick Haul Long can be adjusted in seconds and without tools to fit riders from 1.55 to 1.85 m, making it easy for a family to share without needing multiple bikes.
- Modular customization: With a wide range of Tern accessories, the Quick Haul Long can be adapted to meet a family’s changing needs, whether for carrying children, adults, pets, or heavy loads.
- Built to last: The Quick Haul Long is equipped with components from renowned brands known for their quality and top-notch customer service.
Safety comes first
“Cargo bikes have exploded in popularity in recent years, and nearly every brand has launched their version of a ‘cargo bike’,” says Hon. “Unfortunately, the testing and safety standards have not kept up. Germany recently introduced the first national test standard for cargo bikes, DIN 79010. We believe that any cargo bike with a maximum total weight of over 120 kg should be tested according to DIN 79010 – but so far, very few models have been tested accordingly.” The frame and fork of the Quick Haul Long have been tested to DIN 79010 standards for a total weight of 190 kg. Structural components like the stem, seat post, handlebar, and wheels were also tested to the same load. Thorough testing takes time and money, but it ensures the safety of both rider and passengers.
