Interest groups and industry associations
Zweirad-Industrie-Verband [German Bicycle Industry Association]
The Zweirad-Industrie-Verband [German Bicycle Industry Association] is the national representative body and service provider for the German and international bicycle industry. A majority of the over 110 member companies are actively engaged in manufacturing and importing bicycles, e-bikes, bicycle parts, components and accessories. The ZIV evaluates current trends and provides information on technical, economic and political developments in the industry.
Verband des Deutschen Zweiradhandels [German Bicycle Retailers' Association]
The VDZ is the official trade association for bike retailers in Germany. In addition to representing members' interests and providing professional support relating to politics, business, industry and government bodies, VDZ offers members a comprehensive package of services. This includes: advising on issues such as competition law, labour law and contract law, collecting relevant business sector data, and advancing the image of the profession.
Verbund Service und Fahrrad [Service and Bicycle Association]
Verbund Service und Fahrrad g.e.V. (VSF) is an independent and non-profit trade association for the bicycle industry. Founded in Berlin in 1985, the industry network has more than 320 members. This community of specialist bicycle retailers, manufacturers, wholesalers, service providers and supporting members focusses on promoting stronger networking and effective representation of the interests of the specialist bicycle trade.
Industrie-Verband Motorrad Deutschland [German Motorcycle Industry Association]
The Industrie-Verband Motorrad Deutschland e.V. (IVM) represents the motorcycle industry in Germany. This includes manufacturers and importers of motorbikes and scooters as well as manufacturers and importers of motorbike clothing and equipment. The federal association represents the interests of the motorbike industry and its members with energy, expertise and passion. In Germany, Europe and worldwide.
Bundesinnungsverband Zweirad-Handwerk [German Federal Association for the Bicycle Trade]
The Bundesinnungsverband (BIV) fuer das Deutsche Zweiradmechaniker-Handwerk in Hilden sees itself as an interface between trade, industry and politics. The core responsibilities of the association include representing the interests of its members vis-à-vis business partners such as bicycle manufacturers and importers, as well as cooperating with legislators, public institutions and other organisations. The organisation also focuses on developing the image of the profession.
Gesamtverband Autoteile-Handel [General Association of Automotive Parts Retailers]
The Gesamtverband Autoteile-Handel (GVA) campaigns for liberalisation and transparency in the automotive parts market under the motto "Handeln fuer Wettbewerb" ["In the business of competition"]. As the industry association for independent automotive parts retailers, the GVA advocates for free access to information on all spare parts and technical details from vehicle manufacturers, as well as transparent interfaces and standards for vehicles. In short, their political lobbying is focussed on the distribution of spare parts without restricting competition.

The open consulting and sales tool for specialist bicycle retailers is already used by over 700 retailers, enabling them to provide efficient and professional customer advice. Access to product data from more than 100 brands with integrated availability display makes it easy to compare different bikes and e-bikes. BikeCenter is easy to use and offers infotainment for waiting customers, as well as providing many other useful tools to further improve the customer experience.
Smartfit
Fast sizing at the PoS, precise body scans and wheel measurements with laser technology. The Smartfit Bike Online Sizing features a wide range of Smarfit tools that enable specialist bicycle retailers to provide individualised customer advice on the right frame size for bicycles. The online platform with a database of over 200,000 bicycle models provides scientifically based size recommendations and facilitates additional sales through ergonomic advice.
Neocom Bike Finder
The Neocom Bike Finder or "bike style advisor" facilitates the sales process and can be easily integrated into retailers' online shops. The cloud data platform takes into account the customer's personal preferences and style, and offers customised and efficient purchasing advice. This improves the shopping experience and makes it easier for customers to select the ideal bike from the VICTORIA, EXCELSIOR and CONWAY brands.
velo.port
The cloud-based merchandise management system velo.port was specifically developed for specialist bicycle retailers. The intuitive user interface improves the efficiency and clarity of numerous business processes such as ordering, invoicing, cash management, voucher management, repair acceptance, workshop scheduling, item management and customer management. velo.port also guarantees a fair pricing system and ensures optimal data protection security.
BIDEX Bike Data Exchange
HARTJE and other industry experts have joined forces to create this innovative platform for the bicycle sector. The aim is to define standardised product group codes and interfaces to expedite data exchange. BIDEX BikeData provides specialist bicycle retailers with a standardised product data format in which all product information can be stored in a structured manner and made available for online shops or websites.
DST
With DST, retailers, suppliers, and merchandise management providers can retrieve product information on more than one million items at any time free of charge and use it for their POS systems and online stores. The data platform serves as an interface for mutual data exchange in the bicycle sector. Manufacturers, suppliers, wholesalers and brand representatives can find up-to-date and standardised item information at the click of a mouse – for more efficient purchasing and sales.
Veloconnect
The digital communication standard Veloconnect allows retailers to digitise and simplify their merchandise management processes. For order processing, sales, or workshop scheduling: Veloconnect means reduced labour and improved efficiency in order processing and increased product visibility. In the long term, bicycle retailers benefit from time savings and cost savings, as well as increased sales and enhanced customer satisfaction.
easyCredit
easyCredit instalment purchase is a flexible, secure and transparent payment solution for bricks-and-mortar retail, e-commerce, direct sales and cross-channel retail. The application enables customers to finance purchases of up to 10,000 euros with a range of instalment options and terms. Retailers benefit from larger shopping baskets, higher sales and additional services such as Click&Collect, PoS orders or a service portal for reporting.
PARTSLIFE
The environmental managers for the automotive industry: The PARTSLIFE initiative provides support in legally compliant disposal of all standard garage waste for independent garages, retailers and industry. As one of only 40 certified waste management companies in Germany, PARTSLIFE provides advice on a range of issues, including environmental protection, packaging and energy management. HARTJE retailers and customers can use the PARTSLIFE Order Online System (POOL) for direct ordering and management of their waste disposal.
